it comes,
drifting, a cloud veiling
eyes,
that dreary and bleary
cannot remain wide.
then the dreams
begin again,
setting sail to places and
coursing through the river
of sweet unconsciousness.
but shearing apart
the glory of dream-land
comes the waking call
at once,
the cloud is lifted,
eyes a-wide,
and day
begins again.
