what we all want

I think we all want to feel loved. At our core, in our deepest thoughts, that's all we want. We want to feel loved by people who we consider to be our friends. We want to feel loved by our family. We want to feel loved by another single person who we love.

But above all, we want to love ourselves. Or at least, most of us do. We want to see ourselves as cool and popular and well-liked and pretty. We want to be the type of people who are confident and flourish in whatever they do.

The only problem is that we can't. We can't love ourselves because we know our own flaws too deeply, which is why when others see us as the ideal, we see ourselves as broken and lost.

  1. Oh so true ... and I came to my computer this morning thinking (again!) about that Groucho Marx (?) quote about not joining any club that wanted me or something similar.
