so I'm kind of a procrastinator. and by kind of, I really mean I'm a huge procrastinator. not a good trait for going through school.
it wasn't that bad when I was younger, and I only had the occasional big project to postpone. but now, I have big projects due all the time. instead of actually working on them, I do anything and everything to avoid them. facebook. emails. baking. cooking. laundry.
I feel like many people have similar time management issues. why is that? why do we "put off what we could do today"?
I think that part of the reason is our desire for enjoyment. we want to enjoy the "free" time we have, right at that minute. I don't think about the fact that it will save me future stress to work ahead; I'm only concerned about the present. in some ways, this is not a bad characteristic. it is not a bad thing to embrace the moment, carpe diem style. but when that means we don't plan at all, there is a problem.
what we need is a balance. that's what we always need, I think. a balance of things. then life will be great.
