They say that hope comes upon a person like a glimmer. A small shaft of light, entering into the immense surrounding darkness. They say that hope is all that some have, while others are left without it.
Yesterday, I received hope. It was given to me, through those subtle signs that someone that I like likes me too. Perhaps these dark, depressed writings of a lonely girl will soon be changed to thoughts and descriptions of love.
But the thing is, hope does not always offer truth. He may have been acting as the friend I know him to be and nothing more. We will see. We will see.
the faint shaft of light
beckons to me,
inviting and pure and white.
the darkness and quiet has lifted,
it seems,
and now the glimmer will rise.
my heart leaps,
not waiting for me,
for thoughts are as slow
as turning of leaves,
but the darkness cannot
capture this beam.
it fills me, and wills me
to do the unseen.
